PC68 Omakase is Christened
Often used in restaurants to invite the chef to surprise and delight the patrons with dishes of his choosing, the word “Omakase” in Japanese roughly translates to “I’ll leave it up to you.” Thus, when the first-time Horizon clients decided to step into a larger yacht, they selected the new PC68 model and asked The Powercat Company owners Richard and Leigh Ford to outfit it to their preferred finishes and equipment. The result was a stunning debut model that turned heads and ranked as one of the Top 10 yachts to see during the 2023 Palm Beach Show.
It was only fitting that the owners christen their new build Omakase, and she was delivered in a private ceremony one evening during the show.
Multiple new design features define the new PC68, which offers a four-stateroom layout with the option for an open-plan salon or an on-deck master stateroom forward. Omakase features an Open Salon layout, with an expansive salon area and a large seating and entertainment space furthest forward. This layout sees all of the staterooms positioned below, with two king ensuite staterooms forward in the hulls and two convertible twin-to-king ensuite cabins aft to port and starboard, respectively.
The spacious aft deck hints at the interior volume provided by the PC68’s 24ft 6in beam, and this area features an innovative folding stern section allowing for a variety of seating configurations.
Ease of access is prioritized throughout the PC68 design, and walk around side decks on the main deck lead to a lounging space forward. A unique and enviable Portuguese deck seating area with convertible Hi/Lo dinettes is a new feature for this model and is situated three steps above. The extended flybridge on this model allows for a variety of layout options while comfortably accommodating a 17ft, 100hp tender. The flybridge and boat deck comprise plentiful seating and lounging, a dayhead with shower, BBQ station, chest freezer, and a bar to port with fridge doors and a Scotsman ice maker. Forward of the helm, an innovative raised hatch and door accesses the aforementioned Portuguese deck.
Defined by award-winning advanced composites SCRIMP system construction that yields the most durable, lightweight hull marrying a perfect glass-to-resin ratio, with rigorous testing by the Horizon shipyard’s pioneering Non-Destructive Methods, Omakase is fitted with twin MAN 850hp engines as standard to guarantee quiet, stable and efficient cruise at 20 knots.
“What better means to introduce these clients to the multihull lifestyle than with the latest and greatest PC model?” says The Powercat Company CEO Richard Ford. “We wish them many happy cruising memories shared aboard the new Omakase.”
